Mother's Day is almost here, and Lite 98.7 has teamed up with Slocum Dickson Medical Group to celebrate with our Mother Child Look Alike Contest!

Here's How It Works:

Submit a photo of you and your child looking alike on our station app, on our Facebook page, or down below. Whether it's the same smile, the same eyes, or even the same sense of style, we want to see those photos!

How Do We Pick A Winner

Once we've gathered our entries, we'll showcase them on our Facebook page. Then, it's up to you, to vote for your favorite by giving it a like. The winning duo will receive a fabulous prize to make this Mother's Day one to remember. Our grand prize winner will enjoy dinner from Symeon’s, a Cliff’s gift card, Utica Zoo passes, and Bundtlets for a year from Nothing Bundt Cakes in New Hartford—plus a sweet tote!

Brief History Of Mother's Day

Mother's Day has its roots in ancient civilizations, with festivals dedicated to maternal figures dating back to the Greeks and Romans. However, the modern incarnation of Mother's Day originated in the United States in the early 20th century. Anna Jarvis, inspired by her own mother's activism and love, campaigned for an official day to honor mothers. After her mother's death in 1905, Jarvis tirelessly advocated for the holiday. In 1914, her efforts paid off when President Woodrow Wilson officially designated the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day. Initially intended as a day for expressing gratitude and love towards mothers and mother figures, Mother's Day quickly gained popularity, spreading to other countries around the world. Today, it is celebrated with various traditions including gift-giving, cards, and family gatherings, serving as a universal tribute to the invaluable role of mothers in society.
