Amazon is considering raising the cost of their very popular Prime subscription because of higher shipping costs for the retail giant.

Thursday, Amazon announced they're considering raising the cost of Prime in the US by $20 to $40.   Currently, Prime subscribers pay $79 a year for the service which includes free two day shipping on most of Amazon's products.

According to USA Today, higher fuel and shipping costs have hurt profits for the world's biggest online retailer.  In the fourth quarter, Amazon's net shipping costs increased by 19% to $1.21 billion.

Are you a Prime subscriber?  Would you stay one if the cost jumped over $100?
