The City of Utica's Police Department's K9 will be getting his very own body armor courtesy of an anonymous sponsor.

Wolf, the Utica Police Department K9 is getting "a bullet and stab protective vest thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. K9 Wolf’s vest is sponsored by an Anonymous Sponsor and will be embroidered with the sentiment Gifted by Hasday- Be Safe Be Strong," according to the department.

These vests can cost upwards of $2,000 and weigh around 5 lbs.

K9 Wolf was recently added to the department. He is specialized and certified in Bomb Detection and Patrol Duties. He and his partner Officer Sean Bubnis are assigned to the Patrol Division. They perform regular patrol duties as well as keep the City and its residents safe whenever an event draws a large gathering of people.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a charity whose mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests to law enforcement K9s throughout the US.
