We're very lucky to have many dedicated firefighters that are committed to serving our community. Now we have the chance to pay it back and show our support.

For those who don't know "Suds," he's a very giving and kind man, who has dedicated the last 52 years of his life to fighting fires and helping those in need. For the last 20 years, he's been Chief of the Stittville Fire Department, but unfortunately he will be stepping down after this year. But, he still plans on being involved with the fire department. Actually just a few weeks ago, Suds was our featured firefighter for "Firefighter Friday."

Again, Suds has served his community for the majority of his life. And now after dedicating his life to helping others, the thing he loves the most has made him sick. All the years of firefighting has given him cancer. And even after this diagnosis he STILL is dedicating to the fire service and continues to do as much as he can.

But now's our chance to show support to such a generous and devoted person. A special fundraiser is being held for Suds. This benefit is coming up on Saturday, October 7th at the Stittville Firemen's Field on Route 365 in Stittville. The event goes from 2p to 8p and includes delicious food, tons of raffles and goodies, music, and of course friends of the community coming together to help out one of their own. A donation of $20 per person is asked.

Please come out and support Suds, who has spent his life supporting and caring for the community. Let's all help "Neil on Cancer."
