Could Uber Eats be headed to Utica? The answer is "yes" according to one local cafe owner.

Uber Eats is an advancement on traditional food delivery. Instead of calling different restaurants to order your meals, you can just open the Uber Eats app, and place your order from any of the participating restaurants. Once your order is placed, you can even track the driver as they get close to your home or office - no more wondering when the food will arrive.

Uber's ride-sharing service has been available in Utica since June 2017. While Uber Eats has been successful in other cities, including nearby Syracuse, the service hasn't been available in Utica.

Until now.

In a Facebook post, Bite Bakery & Cafe owner Douglas Allen-Leonard says he's going to change that: "Coming soon to Bite! Uber Eats! We will be the first in the area to offer this."

Yes, please.

Bite offers breakfast and lunch - along with a delicious assortment of cookies, pastries, and cakes. (How many of Bite's lemon cookies can I Uber to the radio station, that's the real question.)

There's no word yet on whether other local restaurants will follow suit and offer food via Uber Eats, but we certainly hope they will. Utica has so much to offer - especially in terms of food - it would be great to be able to have access to eating ALL OF IT at any time.

As soon as Bite launches on Uber Eats, we'll let you know.
