Boilermaker Sunday is July 15th and whether you're running the race, walking the walk, or volunteering, now is the time to sign up!

The countdown to Boilermaker Sunday is underway and the excitement is already building! It's hard to believe that the Boilermaker has been going strong for 37 years!

In 1978, the Boilermaker began as a 15K road race with 876 runners. Today it is a weeklong extravaganza drawing thousands from all over the world. (Boilermaker.com)

2015's race is sure to be another spectacular event! I've competed in the race before and if you're contemplating running the race for the first time this year, I'd like to encourage you to say yes and be a part of the "nation’s best 15k!" The race course is lined with encouraging cheerleaders, live music, and lots of refreshments! Organizers of this classic road race make it easy to cross the finish line:

The Boilermaker course boasts panoramic views, challenging hills, the MOST water stops, the best entertainment, and the most overall FUN of any race event!

Pretty soon you’ll be seeing joggers in training all over central New York. My favorite place to jog is the practice course along the parkway near the Utica Zoo. Another great place to get in shape is Sherrill Brook Town Park in New Hartford, and Proctor Park off of Culver in Utica. I look forward to being a part of this year's massive event. I'll see you at the starting line!
