Morrisville State College is well known as one of New York State's top agricultural focused institutes of higher education. Now a new grant could bring an institute devoted to the art of brewing beer.

The Brewing Institute at SUNY Morrisville could be open by fall of 2014 and, according to the Utica Observer-Dispatch,

Morrisville is focusing on agriculture, developing a brewing institute, providing equipment to local hops producers as well as train workers, and ingredient testing of hops and barley used to identify different characteristics used in craft beer brewing.

Long-term, Morrisville is looking at developing curriculum in food and brewing science, but initially will start with the continuing education and short courses

Don't wait until a brewing institute opens in Upstate New York, sample some of the best craft beers from across the Empire State and the nation when the Stanley Theater hosts Utica OnTap, part of the Upstate OnTap series.
