Butterball Recalls Ground Turkey Sold in Central New York Over Salmonella Concerns

Butterball is recalling turkey sold at grocery stores around the country because it could be contaminated with Salmonella.

If you bought some ground turkey as a healthy alternative, you'd better check your freezer. Butterball is recalling nearly 80,000 pounds of ground turkey over Salmonella concerns. The turkey was sold in the summer - so you could only have it in your freezer.

According to the USDA, the affected patients are in Wisconsin, but the products were sold nationwide. Eating food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis leading to symptoms of salmonellosis including diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 12 to 72 hours after eating the contaminated food. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days. Most people recover without treatment.

The prepacked raw ground turkey was produced on July 7, 2018. The following products are subject to recall: You can see the package labels here.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. P-7345” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to institutional and retail locations nationwide.
