It's not enough that local police are dealing with local criminals, but they are also dealing with criminal transplants. A man who resides in New York City and was staying in Utica has been arrested, charged and now convicted on gun and drug charges.
It has been an incredibly difficult week for the law enforcement community in Upstate New York. The difficulty continues as another officer has died while in the line of duty.
Former Utica City School Superintendent Bruce Karam has been sentenced on felony corruption charges as part of a plea bargain deal he agreed to in Oneida County Court. Karam was charged in regards to the misuse of taxpayer funds to support a political campaign related to the 2021 Utica School Board election, as well as a fundraiser for then board President Lou LaPolla.
