Central New York Bowler Making History
Meghan Doris will be competing in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Bowling Championships. Again.
The high school senior at Clinton Central, committed to attend Adelphi University, is making an unprecedented fifth trip to the tournament. You do the math. That means she began earning headlines in eighth grade. Here she is with one of her best bowling buds, Sherburne-Earlville's Leisa Armstrong (left), now at MVCC:
She's got the attitude. She's got the focus. And she's got the experience.
And she once again leads the Section III Composite Team, comprised of bowlers from all over Central New York. She'll be joined on the Composite Team by Vernon-Verona-Sherrill's Mackenzie O'Herien and girls from Auburn, Solvay and Fulton.
Doris hasn't just been competing at this high level since eighth grade, she's been dominating, holding the highest league average for each of the past five seasons.
The 2018 state championship will be held this weekend at the Syracuse OnCenter, which has 48 lanes set up. Her team bowls Saturday night at 5:00 pm.
