The Chainsmokers, the group who gave us the viral video #Selfie has a strong connection to Central New York - a member of the group is a graduate of Syracuse University.

According to the Chainsmokers Wikipedia page entry, Drew Taggart half of the DJ duo was a student at Syracuse. A Google search for 'Chainsmokers Syracuse' turns up a Daily Orange article about a gig the group performed at MayFest.
