Babe's has been a restaurant staple for years in the Mohawk Valley, but some new owners are breathing new life into the local eatery.

Rob Esche, the owner of the Utica Comets pro hockey team and the Utica City FC pro indoor soccer team, is behind the redesign of Babe's at Harbor Point. Esche and his team of backers has been very successful with 72 Tavern & Grill, located inside the Adirondack Bank Center, and also with Aqua Vino. Now, the focus is on Babe's.

The grand re-opening bash Monday, April 1st, was no April Fool's joke. Dignitaries on hand with Esche included Utica Mayor Rob Palmieri, Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente, local businessman Frank DuRoss, Utica Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Meghan McGrogan, and others (below) who helped with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The new Babe's at Harbor Point has a fresh new look (including fresh paint), plus a fresh new menu. And it's new slogan is Fast, Fresh & Fun. Find Babe's at the corner of 80 North Genesee Street and Wurz Avenue and also on their website BabesUtica.com.

Some older favorites, like the Cincinnati-style spaghetti will no longer appear on the menu, but can still be ordered.
