This Map Proves Central New York Among Coldest Locations in US
Of course we love to complain about how it's always colder here in Upstate New York than other places. Now we have a map and science to prove that it's true. We live in one of the coldest places in the country.
This map shows the average number of days with temperatures above 80 degrees. Most of Central and Upstate New York is in blue meaning we receive less than 10 days each year where the temperature is in the 80s or hotter. All of New England, the Appalachian Mountains as well as the northern Great Lakes and Pacific Northwest also see very few warm days. By contrast much of the southern United States sees 300 or more days in excess of 80 degrees.
