This give a whole new meaning to "downward facing dog." Dog yoga is coming to Utica, and you and your furry friend can be a part of it.

Dog yoga, otherwise known as 'doga', is being offered at Utica's Handshake.City on Sunday, September 23 from 1pm - 2pm. Doga is meant to help strengthen the bond between dog and human. If you're concerned about whether your dog can handle the class - no worries - your dog is allowed to "misbehave." There's a suggested $5 donation for the class.

The dog yoga is part of the larger Barks & Brews event that's happening all day on Sunday, featuring beer, live music, and local vendors at the brand spankin' new Handshake.City at 28 Whitesboro Street, Utica. Dog yoga is FREE with a VIP ticket to Barks & Brews. Check out the details at madeinutica.com.

"Students should wear comfortable clothes and bring a towel, a leash, a toy and a yoga mat. It is recommended to have taken at least a few yoga classes and your dog should be updated on shots and be well socialized. You and your dog will do some yoga poses, and have some fun. This is NOT a dog training class. This is a bonding class. One dog per owner at a time. Doga works best for little dogs. However, bigger dogs can do some poses with modifications."

More information is available on the event's Facebook page.
