A Central New York organization is looking for help furnishing 17 newly-constructed efficiency apartments for homeless veterans.

Veterans have sacrificed so much to support and defend our country. Here's your chance to do something support them when they need it most.

The Central New York Veterans Outreach Center in Utica recently completed construction on 17 efficiency apartments designed to provide housing for homeless veterans in the community. "We are adding 18 units of housing at the vet center for homeless veterans. They are on the 3rd and 4th floors. The project was funded by NYS Homeless Housing Assistance program. Due to it being an old building we ran into issues causing cost overruns so funds set aside for furnishings had to be used to finish the construction. We help on average over 70 homeless veterans a year and will fill these units quickly," says Vincent Scalise, the Center's Executive Director.

In a Facebook post CNYVOC is asking for the community's help:

We are looking for people, businesses, or agencies who would be interested in adopting a room to furnish for our homeless Veterans. We have concluded that it would be about $1,000 to completely furnish one apartment. If anyone is interested in either providing the items needed to furnish the room or donating the funds to furnish it, please call us at 315-765-0975. Anyone who adopts a room will have a plaque in their name placed above the unit.
