Recently a piece of garbage, once part of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, watched up on shore in Oregon.  The cross-oceanic garbage journey has drawn attention to the trash vortex, currently one of the major concerns of the NOAA Marine Debris Program.

This government program is leading the way in cleaning up the plastic, fishing nets and other rubbish that is littering the ocean.  The term Garbage Patch immediately caused me to flash back to the 80s phenomenon known as Garbage Pail Kids.  The Topps-produced trading cards were the inspiration for a new series of GPK cards showing their clean-up efforts.
