Maybe if we decide to eat like these little guys we won't end up couch bound for three to six weeks after our Thanksgiving meal.

When I was a kid I never enjoyed spending the night at my friend Alex's house because he owned a hamster. That little rodent would keep me awake all night in his little amusement park of a cage. His favorite ride was the ferris wheel. I can't understand why he loved it so much. What was his fascination with this anyway?  I'm sure his outlook from up there was not all that terrific. I mean there was no skyline to look at, so picturesque coastal views, and no little people to see. His view consisted of a tiny water dish filled with wood chips and a toilet paper tube. That little thorn in the side would seemingly spin that wheel all night long! Shouldn't he be asleep?!  Can someone please give that rat some Benadryl? My buddy Alex was never phased by his little buddy's all night antics. He was sound asleep snoring away. I on the other hand got extremely perturbed. I finally learned the trick of quieting down this little nighttime gnawer however. My secret was feeding him apple slices. An apple a day keeps hamsters at bay!

The hamsters in this video have an extremely hearty appetite. Then again if we ate like them this Turkey Day our grocery bills might not exceed $3!
