One of the roads that was closed during this summer's flooding is New York State Route 171 which traverses the Frankfort Gulch. If you aren't from the area, you may not even know about the road. It's the only state route that doesn't connect to any other NYS Touring Route.

NYS Route 171 used to connect to Route 5S before the expressway was built that bypassed Main Street in the village. Route 171 travels just over 5 miles from Main Street in Frankfort to the hamlet of Gulph.
