Kanye West to Receive Artist of the Year Honor at Webby Awards
Hip-hop's outspoken rap icon Kanye West will be named the Artist of the Year at the 20th Annual Webby Awards.
The Webby Awards recognizes online excellence, and the producers feel Yeezy deserves all the praise for his influence and acheivements in music through the internet.
"A leader and innovator in the music industry, Kanye is changing the cultural paradigm of how music is shared, released, presented & consumed," reads a statement. "Kanye premiered his latest album 'The Life of Pablo' as an exclusive for the music streaming platform Tidal via live stream which, as a result, shot it to the top of the iTunes App Store."
Kanye will not only be honored for his accomplishments of the recently released album TLOP, which was streamed over 250 million times on Tidal in its first day of release, but also for his G.O.O.D. Friday music series. Not to mentioned Yeezy has 22.5 million people following him on Twitter.
The 20th annual Webby Awards will take place on May 16.
