Today (May 11), would have marked Glee actor Cory Monteith’s 33rd birthday, and his former co-star Lea Michele remembered her late on- and off-screen boyfriend in a touching tweet featuring a photo of Monteith playing drums while on the Glee set:

“I know you’re serenading everyone right now,” Michele wrote. “We love you Cory! Happy birthday.”

Monteith died in 2013 from a drug overdose at age 31. The Canadian actor portrayed the Glee lead, Finn Hudson, opposite Michele’s Rachel Berry during the show’s first four seasons.

Ryan Murphy’s musical series concluded its run after six seasons, with its last episode airing back in March. Michele and co-star Chris Colfer rose to the occasion, teaming up for a performance of “Popular” from Wicked during the two-hour finale. Michele and the rest of the Glee cast took to Twitter to say their goodbyes to the Fox show, which played a significant role in launching their careers.

Though Michele practically just wrapped Glee, she's already hard at work on her next projects. Michele was cast alongside Ariana Grande in another Ryan Murphy series, Scream Queens -- a comedy-horror show in the same vein as Murphy’s FX series, American Horror Story. Scream Queens is expected to premiere this fall.

Michele will also appear in the William H. Macy-directed The Layover with Kate Upton. The road trip comedy is slated for release next year.
