Barneveld native Michelle Roberts is seeing her grandmother's dream come true as her messenger birds are flying off to Hallmark. The hand made ceramic birds hat fit in your hand, have a hole that runs through the middle to hold a special hand written message.

Robert's who's made 1300 birds in last 5 years says it was a dream of her grandmother's. "She worked in a Hallmark store her entire life and it was always her dream to have her own products in the store. I fell into designing products after college to go back and say 'grandma I did it.'"

The birds are not only a great personalized gift but unique. "There's two things that make them unique. They're all hand crafted. Plus the firing method I use and that truly makes them unique with the markings. Every marking is different," says Roberts.

Share your messenger bird story on Facebook and Robert's says the best one will win another bird.

What's the best message? "There's been so many." says Roberts.  "One sticks out because it's so unique. A young man bought one for his aunt in California who then sent it to someone else in another state. It's kinda been a traveling messenger bird."

You buy your own bird at Hallmark stores or at MessengerBirds.com.
