The CEO of UnitedHealthcare was killed in New York City on Wednesday morning in what police say was a deliberate, planned attack.

50-year-old Brian Thompson was headed to an investor conference where he was expected to speak when the gunman appeared and shot him, fled on foot then bike. For days, the gunman eluded police leaving behind what seemed to be a trail of fake clues like a backpack of monopoly money. Thanks to the thinking of an employee where the killer was staying, we were able to get a glimpse of his face, though he remained on the run for days until he was finally captured at a McDonalds in Pennsylvania. But, what has happened is that Luigi Mangione and that McDonalds have become viral sensations.

He has gained over 100k followers on X. His Facebook and Instagram accounts have been taken down and his Goodreads account is now private.

The McDonald's where Luigi was captured is also getting bombed with false reviews on yelp.

Supporters have apparently set up GoFundMe accounts to help raise money for Mangione’s legal fees, however, the site has removed these fundraisers as they pop up. Other websites have kept up the fundraisers, as of now.

Reddit also appears to have banned an r/LuigiMangione community hours after it was created — but not before the page racked up hundreds of subscribers.

There's even a memecoin of the shooting suspect that is skyrocketing in value just days after Brian Thompson was killed.

The memecoin hit a $29 million market cap Monday afternoon after Mangione was arrested. Memecoins are a type of cryptocurrency, though their value is often misunderstood.

Women have been commenting on various posts that they can't wait to write him prison letters, making it seem like he'll become more popular than Ted Bundy. Jokes were made about his commissary being fully funded. But let's not forget, he is accused of killing a man...
