It's almost time for the 179th Annual Madison County Fair, and it's sure to be packed with activities, food, and fun for the whole family.

'Tis the season for fairs and carnivals in Central New York. We have the Herkimer County Fair coming up in August, the Boonville-Oneida County Fair at the end of July, and many others. But first, it's time to head out to Brookfield for the Madison County Fair.

This year's county fair runs from Thursday, July 12th through Sunday, July 15th. As with any fair, there will plenty of food, amusement rides, exhibits and displays, and other forms of entertainment every single day. According to the Madison County Fair's Facebook Event Page, there is also going to be a chicken barbecue on Saturday at 12pm. The page also mentions they're offering special deals on admission on certain days. You can get into the fair for only $3 on opening day (Thursday), OR you can get in for free if you bring a non-perishable food item with you. Senior citizens get in for free on Friday (July 13th). Regular admission is $5 each day of the fair, and children under three get in for free.

So you're probably wondering about some of the entertainment that's been scheduled and some of the events they have going on. Well, according to the Madison Tourism's website, the fun starts on Thursday, July 12th when the fair's gates open at 10am. There will be Agricultural displays and demonstrations, the Miss and Mister Madison County pageant, entertainment by Buffalo Barfield, and the midway will be open starting at 4pm. There will also be the firemen's parade at 6pm and the Team Demo at 7pm (at the Grandstand).

10:00 AM - Rabbit

4:00 PM - Midway Opens; Sheep Show; Talent Show (Stage); Local Food Evening; (Larkin Bldg.)

7:00 PM - Gas & Diesel Truck Pull (Grandstand $7.00); Broken Rule Band (Stage)

Saturday, July 14th is another busy day at the fair with gates opening at 8am. According to MadisonTourism.com, there will be a goat show at 9am, 4-H and FFA Make-N-Take demonstrations, the power wheels demo, an antique stock car parade, live entertainment, and of course many other activities and events packed throughout the day.

The fair wraps up on Sunday, July 15th. Gates open at 8am and the day is filled with a variety of events like an open horse show, the tractor pulls, live music, and of course the midway is open for more rides and fun.
