Food truck season is on the wane, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the fantastic fare offered up by Mohawk Valley food trucks. Mangia Macrina's recently opened up a brick-and-mortar shop and indoor business is booming.

It's located in the same plaza as Seneca Wine & Liquor, right across from the Yahnundasis in New Hartford. And, we weren't the first Lite 98.7 radio hosts to try it:

Like CJ, we were NOT paid for this write-up or "comped" free food. Unlike CJ, we had a birthday party there.

Personal, thin-crust, wood-fired pizzas for everyone, with hundreds of possible combinations of toppings. Mine--artichoke hearts and mushrooms-was the best, of course. Although, Beth would argue that her white pizza, with figs, goat cheese and honey was the winner.

Delicious pizza, delightful staff, clean, casual and fun atmosphere. Plus, lots of local and regional craft brews--in cans, bottles, and on tap. And, many choices of unique area bottled soft drinks are available as well.

Mangia Macrina's is not a place we would have normally considered for a sit-down, but it's definitely going to find a spot in our regular rotation. Just another example of how thinking outside the (pizza) box can be rewarding.

And, of course, it won't replace some of our other local pizza favorites that we like to frequent for excellent take-out pie.
