Gearing Up for the Boilermaker – The Boilermaker Burger
It's Boilermaker week - and to gear up for the race this weekend, I had to try this 'Boilermaker Burger' I've been hearing so much about.
Before this week started, I had no idea what a Boilermaker Burger was. We started talking about it around the office and I knew I had to try one. I mean, come on - this is my first Boilermaker and I need to do it right.
So after work yesterday, I headed to Carmella's Cafe to see what all the fuss was about. I did get a little worried, though. When I looked at the menu, it wasn't there! It wasn't on those little card-things they have on the tables either! But I worried too quick - They still have them, you just have to ask for it.
Here we go! The burger came with cheese, bacon, onion, lettuce, two tomatoes, onion petals, and two sauces - one already on the burger, and one on the side. Now from what I've been told, everything goes on the burger - even the onion petals. So that's what I did (okay, all except the regular onions - because I only like cooked onions).
I think I did a pretty good job assembling this burger. Although, even after I pushed everything down, the burger was still pretty big in my hands. I didn't know how I was going to be able to eat it, but hey - I'm not a quitter.
So what was the verdict?
It was delicious! The burger was cooked perfectly - every bite had a piece of everything. I loved it! The burger was really filling though - I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to eat the whole thing. Plus, I ordered a side of fries, and I definitely know I didn't need those too.
But, like I said earlier - I'm not a quitter! When something is that good, it's hard to stop anyways. I was determined!
Usually I'm a slow eater. I'm always the last one done with my food, but not this time. The Boilermaker Burger was so good I finished even before Luke. Oh, and those fries... I annihilated them too!
What can I say? I'm experiencing my first Boilermaker week, and I need to be ready for the weekend. Plus, I'm in the Boilermaker Pasta Eating Contest on Saturday, so this was practice (at least that's what I'm telling myself).
