New York is the Top State for Teachers
On the Lite 98-7 morning show, we discussed the story about the teacher who was fired after she gave a grade of zero to students failing to turn in assignments. It occurred in Florida, which ranks #47 among U.S. states in a new study of the top spots for teachers.
On the flip side, as young Central New York students complete their first few weeks of study in the new school year, there's GREAT news across New York State. New York is the BEST place for teachers, across a wide spectrum of metrics, as measured by WalletHub in its study of 2018's Best & Worst States for Teachers.
In its research, WalletHub took into account factors from teachers’ income growth potential to pupil-teacher ratio to teacher safety, and arrived at overall rankings for the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia. New York not only came out #1 overall, but also scored very high in individual metrics measured.
New York State ranks #4 in the Opportunity and Competition area of the study and #6 in Academic & Work Environment.
The only states worse than Florida overall were Louisiana, North Carolina and Arizona, followed by Hawaii in dead last.
