Raising kids is expensive.  In addition to all the basic necessities, like food and clothing, adding in the extras like sports equipment can really make the family budget feel the pain.

American parents spend at least $671 every year on their kid's sports.  Any guesses which sport costs mom and dad the most?  Equipment, uniforms, team dues, travel, sports camps and practice space time cost the most for kids who play football.    RetailMeNot.com also found that 21% of American parents spend over a thousand dollars a year on their kid's sports.  Football costs the most and some of the other pricey sports to play include baseball, softball, hockey, basketball, soccer and gymnastics.   Do you spend almost $700 a year for sports?  Is it worth it?
