The final 12 months of Prince’s life will be chronicled in a new documentary produced by British network Channel 4.

According to Variety, the tentative doc, titled Prince’s Last Year, will feature interviews with George Clinton, CeeLo Green and Rev. Al Sharpton as it recounts the Purple One’s final year before his death in April 2016. Starting with his secret gig at the White House in June 2015 to his solo performances on the Piano & Microphone tour, it will cover a lot of ground.

The one-hour documentary will also look into Prince’s addiction to painkillers as well as his involvement in politics and activism before his untimely death. The film also features contributions from friend and political analyst Van Jones, singer Eryn Allen Kane and former girlfriend Andy Allo.

Meanwhile, there are a few new Prince documentaries in the works. One of them is by French-American filmmaker Mathieu Bitton and journalist Frédéric Bénudis and it's called Prince: Pop Life.

Their documentary, which will be produced by production company The Wild Bunch, will feature exclusive archival footage, interviews, and animated segments created by filmmaker Joann Sfar.

“It will be music driven with a lot of exclusive footage," said Wild Bunch's co-chief Vincent Maraval. "Joann’s animated sections will be there to express Prince’s creativity and the parts of his life when he disappeared from the public eye."

The film will also explore Prince's personal life, the death of his son and his embracing of the Jehovah's Witness lifestyle.

“It will be in the same vein as Amy,” said Maraval, referring to the late singer and songwriter Amy Winehouse's documentary which won Best Documentary Feature at the 2016 Academy Awards.
