The ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Sequel Has an Official Title
Oh man, Tom Holland is going to be in so much trouble.
He was at Ace Comic-Con in Seattle this weekend, and in the process of apologizing for the lack of information coming out about the upcoming sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, he accidentally let slip the official title of the movie: Spider-Man: Far From Home on Instagram.
Way to go, Tom. I hope you have a backup plan for your career after you get fired for this embarrassing breach of security and secrecy. Marvel won’t touch you after this with a ten foot pole!
This was a pretty cute and clever way to reveal this news. And Far From Home is a nice title. The use of ‘home’ connects it to Spider-Man: Homecoming (which actually did feature a homecoming dance). And since we already know that the sequel is set in London it makes perfect sense. (Of course what doesn’t make much sense is a Spider-Man movie after the end of Avengers: Infinity War. But we assume all of that will be sorted out in Avengers 4. Either that or Spider-Man: Far From Home is just going to be an extended funeral scene.)
Spider-Man: Far From Home opens in theaters on July 5, 2019. And it’s the second Spider-Man movie coming out in the next calendar year; the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, about the adventures of the Ultimate Spider-Man, Miles Morales, opens in theaters on December 14.
