Student Invents Tattoo Removal Cream
Do you have a tattoo that you regret getting? Do you wish you could permanently erase the memory and the tattoo forever? I met a lady back in 1997. One day we decided to get matching tattoos. I'm not sure what I was thinking!
But...I know what you're thinking, "What in the world is that?" The answer to that question is neither here nor there; let's just say there's a woman out in Colorado with the same exact one! For years, I've been wanting to get this thing either completely removed or modified. Up until now I've been perplexed as to what I should do.
If you're in the same predicament as me, I've good news for us both: A student researcher at Dalhousie University in Canada is developing a cream that will eventually make the tattoo completely fade away. His name is Alec Falkenham and he's a 27 year old PhD student at the University's pathology department. His invention is sheer genius because unlike laser treatments, the cream won't irritate the skin.
"When comparing it to laser-based tattoo removal, in which you see the burns, the scarring, and the blisters, in this case, we've designed a drug that doesn't really have much off-target effect," he said. (WN.COM)
Alec isn't sure just how many applications it will take before the tattoo completely fades away. He's currently testing the application on pig’s ears. "Oink, oink!" The best part of this tattoo removal cream is that it will be affordable:
Falkenham estimates a tattoo removal treatment will cost four cents per square centimeter — a 10-by-10-centimetre area would cost approximately $4.50 per treatment.
