The New York State Police are opening up one of their cold case files in an attempt to try and find the person or persons responsible for the death of a Herkimer County woman.

A town judge in a rural part of Herkimer County should be removed from office, according to the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct. The Commission announced Monday that Salisbury Town Court Justice Thomas F. Rathbun should be removed from the bench, Rathbun is not an attorney.

A strong June 2014 storm brought a confirmed EF1 tornado to Verona in Oneida County. Neighboring Herkimer County also saw damage, particularly in Salisbury and Dolgeville. A large tree fell in the Salisbury Cemetery.

There are very few covered bridges in New York State, and one of them is in the Herkimer County town of Salisbury, the Salisbury Center Covered Bridge.
