The First Frost of The Season Coming to Central New York
The first frost of the season in heading toward Central New York.
Say goodbye to what's left of your summer blooms: the first freeze is about to hit Central New York. According to The National Weather Service, most of the area can expect frost by Friday night, as temperatures dip close to freezing.
In their Hazardous Weather Outlook, the NWS predicts: "The coldest temperatures of the season so far, are expected Friday into Saturday. Areas of frost appear likely for much of the area Friday night. Some locations especially east of Interstate 81 could even reach freezing. Anyone still needing to protect sensitive vegetation should monitor the forecast for updates."
Temperatures are expected to drop to 34 degrees overnight on Friday.
Friday: Rain likely, mainly before 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Friday Night: Areas of frost after 1am. Otherwise, mostly clear, with a low around 34.
Saturday: Widespread frost, mainly before 8am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 56.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 41.
Sunday: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
Sunday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 53. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
