The scheduled work for March got put on the back burner for a couple of weeks due to the weather. With the weather finally warming up this week, you can expect to see road work crews throughout Central NY.

If you travel through Rome expect bridge closures due to long-term rehabilitation. The following bridges will remain closed through the end of the year:
• Route 26 north bridge over Route 365 west
• Route 49/69 bridge over Route 365 west
• Route 49/69 bridge over Route 26 north.
Signs and variable message boards are in place to advise you of the detour routes.

In West Utica between Lafayette Street and Sunset Ave the building demolitions continue west of the North-South Arterial, along Fay Street as part of the arterial expansion project. If your driving down Columbia and Lafayette Streets you may encounter minor delays.

In other bridge work details, the Route 46 bridge in Verona over the Erie Canal may still be worked on. If so, expect one-way alternating traffic controlled by a temporary traffic signal.

In the villages of Whitesboro and Yorkville the Route 69 traffic signal will be worked on at Clinton Street in Whitesboro. Route 5A traffic signal work in Yorkville at the Main Street and Whitesboro Street intersections also continues. Expect to encounter intermittent lane closures controlled by flaggers.

That's it for now. Spring is here and the Department of Transportation hopes these improvements will make your travels easier.
