It's that time of the year again, road work season. With the weather warming up this week, you can expect to see road work crews throughout Central NY.

If you travel through Rome expect bridge closures due to long-term rehabilitation. The following bridges will remain closed through the end of the year:
• Route 26 north bridge over Route 365 west
• Route 49/69 bridge over Route 365 west
• Route 49/69 bridge over Route 26 north.
Signs and variable message boards are in place to advise you of the detour routes.

If the weathers is okay, Tuesday through Thursday, March 19, 20 and 21, between 9 am and 3 pm, traffic on Route 365 westbound will be detoured to the Route 49/69/Downtown Rome exit. Detour signs are in place. This work may continue into the following week, weather permitting.

In Verona, the Route 46 bridge over the Erie Canal will be worked on, so expect one-way alternating traffic controlled by a temporary traffic signal.

In Alder Creek the Route 28 south bridge over Route 12 is closed to Route 28 southbound traffic due to a bridge strike. Route 28 southbound traffic is being detoured west to County Route 75 (Egypt Road) then to Route 12 south. This should cause minor delays.

That's it for now. Spring is here and the Department of Transportation hopes these improvements will make your travels easier.
