It doesn't happen very often, but every once in a while, a little bundle of joy is born mid-flight. This was the case on Tuesday, when a passenger on a Southwest Airlines Flight went into labor.

The plane was heading towards Phoenix, Arizona, but had to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles. Before the plane was able to land though, the baby was born, while in flight.

A doctor and nurse were on board, and were able to help with the delivery.

When the plane finally did land, a medic team was waiting, and the mother was taken to a hospital.

The other 111 passengers on board flight 623 boarded another flight to Phoenix

It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. You can never be sure when someone may go into labor, and it may just happen on an airplane. A similar situation happened back in 2009, on-board another Southwest Airlines flight.
