Utica School District Named One of the Best Employers in New York

For the second year in a row, one of the best employers in New York State is right here in Utica.

The Utica City School District has once again been named to Forbes’ list of America’s Best-In-State Employers, earning the recognition for 2026 after also making the list last year.

And UCSD isn't just one of the 102 New York employers recognized. The district says it is the only K-12 school district in New York State to make the 2026 list.

What really makes Utica's recognition stand out is who else made the list.

A total of 102 employers in New York State were recognized by Forbes in 2026, but according to UCSD, Utica City School District is the only K-12 school district among them.

For a local public school district to stand alongside some of the state's major employers is certainly something worth celebrating.

The district says the award reflects its continued effort to create a supportive and rewarding workplace while giving employees the resources and opportunities they need to serve Utica students and families.

Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to determine the Best-In-State Employers for 2026, using feedback from more than 245,000 employees across the country.
