Utica Roadrunners Hosting 35th Annual Run 2 End World Hunger on Thanksgiving
Ready to get a head start on burning those Thanksgiving calories? How about a turkey trot?
'Turkey Trot' is the name affectionately given to Thanksgiving Day road races around the country. In Utica, the race is called the 'Run 2 End World Hunger'. The run is sponsored by the Utica Roadrunners, and has been run every year, for 34 years.
The 35th Annual Run 2 End World Hunger will be held on Thursday, November 28, 2019. Registration for this family-friendly run/walk will take place on Thanksgiving Day at the Utica Recreation Center, located at 220 Memorial Parkway, starting at 8am until 8:45am.
The 5K Run and 2 Mile Walk will start promptly at 9:00am. The cost is $7 per person and $20 per family, plus two nonperishable items per person. 100% of the proceeds and food from this event will benefit local nonprofit food pantries.
Considering the average Thanksgiving meal for most of us contains over 3,000 calories, a little exercise to start the day probably isn't a bad idea.
