Victoria’s Secret, Gap, and JC Penney Announce Hundreds of Store Closures

Is it the retail apocalypse? Fresh on the heels of several other store closures, Central New York retailers Victoria's Secret, Gap, and JC Penney have announced plans to close stores.

In a single day, the three retailers announced over 300 stores closures, citing poor retail sales.

• Victoria's Secret plans to close 53 stores
• JCPenney says they plan to close 27 stores in 2019
• Gap will close 230 stores over the next 2 years

Both Sangertown Square and Destiny USA have been affected by what Business Insider calls the "retail apocalypse" - losing stores like Charlotte Russe and Payless Shoes in the last month.

As yet, a list of which stores will be closed has not been released.
