Unfortunately for many in central New York, Victoria's Secret is continuing to shrink their store count. Will the location in New Hartford's Sangertown Square, or even the location in Destiny USA be involved?

According to CNN, the retailer is planning to close 30 to 50 more stores this year. The closures come following the reduction in 2020, in which 241 locations were closed in the U.S. and Canada.

"Over the next six months, we will continue to work toward the separation of the two businesses, proceeding down a dual track to prepare for either a spin-off or a sale," the company said in a statement.

There's no word if the location in New Hartford or Syracuse will be closing, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. There's been several closures in Sangertown Square, including JCPenney and H&M. Macy's will be closing their doors in the next few weeks.

Brand owner, L Brands, actually plans on separating Victoria's Secret away from their other brands to make it a privately owned entity. They would separate from their other names, like Bath and Body Works, which also has a location in Sangertown Square.

"Over the next six months, we will continue to work toward the separation of the two businesses, proceeding down a dual track to prepare for either a spin-off or a sale," the company said in a statement.

Both Sangertown Square and Destiny USA have been affected by what Business Insider calls the "retail apocalypse" - losing stores over the past year and a half.
