Central New York is bidding farewell to an iconic structure that's been a part of the area for 38 years. This weekend you are invited to watch the implosion of the New York State Fair grandstand in Syracuse.

On September 3, 2015, R&B artist Patti Labelle had the honor of performing the final concert at the grandstand of The Great New York State Fair. The "Godmother of Soul" belted out her hits: "New Attitude," 'When you Talk About Love," and "Lady Marmalade," to an excited and appreciative crowd.

This Saturday, the grandstand will be demolished using explosives. Future fair concerts will be moved to the new Lakeview Amphitheater, and an RV park will occupy the existing space.

If you and your family have fond, fair memories of grandstand shows, you may want to come out and watch the demolition.

According to Syracuse.com:

The public is invited to watch the implosion from the Brown Lot at the Fairgrounds, across State Fair Boulevard. Parking will be available at the Brown Lot starting at 9:30 a.m.

If you've captured some of your favorite fair concerts on video, here's an opportunity to record some more.
