Avril Lavigne Confirms Bonnie McKee Collab as Sixth Album Nears ‘Finishing Touches’
Get ready to smile, Little Black Stars: Avril Lavigne's long-awaited sixth album is on its way!
Following her years-long stint out of the spotlight and away from the mic, the "My Happy Ending" musician is finally getting ready to share her upcoming record with the world. The rock star hinted the developments of AV6 were nearing completion after tweeting an image of herself alongside singer-songwriter Bonnie McKee following their studio session.
"Loved working with the super talented, smart, independent hawt blonde @bonniemckee on this record," Lavigne captioned a set of pics with the "American Girl" artist, whom the 33-year-old credits as a collaborator on her next LP. "Finishing touches."
Lavigne's been patiently teasing the details of her new effort on social media, but what fans really want to are hear are new songs. A wish that has been yet been answered after what feels like a lifetime.
The last we reported of the "I'm With You" singer's new effort was a few months ago when she confirmed the record was weeks away from completion.
"I've written a really powerful record, really emotional album sort of reflecting where I am today," Lavigne told Entertainment Weekly of the work during an appearance at the 25th Annual Race to Erase MS Gala back in April. "I'm going to release that this year. I'm actually going to be done in two weeks ... These songs are different. I'm just sort of writing about what I'm going through now."
The performer's most recent full-length, Avril Lavigne, was released five years ago.
Still, we're keeping out fingers crossed for fresh material in the months ahead. And with McKee on her side — who's lent her pen to the likes of Katy Perry and Britney Spears — we have a feeling the princess of punk will make one helluva comeback sooner than we know it.
