When It Comes to Stuff: Are You a Keeper or a Tosser?
There are two kinds of people in the world: keepers and tossers. Which kind are you?
You're either a keeper or a tosser. You either keep stuff - like old Boilermaker t-shirts, gifts you'll never use, and all your papers from school - or you're a tosser - you just throw away anything - no sentiment attached.
Personally, I come from a long line of keepers: my grandmother even kept the bubble packs her various QVC purchases came in "just in case." When she finally moved, we found a wrapped favor from my parents' wedding - in spite of the fact their wedding was about 40 years prior, and their divorce was about 30 years ago. The tendency to keep skipped a generation - my mother tosses everything - report cards, my first dollhouse, her wedding dress - gone.
If you're a keeper, you probably think that you'll have some use for the things that you keep - that old cell phone charger, and you might re-use that gift box...eventually. If you're a tosser - you just don't care.
We recently had to pack up all our offices here at Townsquare - and judging by the decades of paperwork that came out of some desks and file cabinets - we're a building full of keepers.
Which are you? A keeper or a tosser?
