You Can Stay in a Stunning Renovated Giraffe Barn in New York
Spend a night - or more - in a renovated giraffe barn in the Catskills. Think more gorgeous bed and breakfast than barn.
Central New York is home to one of the most famous giraffes ever, April. Millions tuned in to watch April give birth last year. You may not know that April the Giraffe was born at a now-defunct zoo in the Catskills.
The Catskill Game Farm has been partially re-purposed and it's giraffe barn renovated buy the enterprising couple that bought the property. According to the original story at Syracuse.com, Ben and Cathy Ballone bought the zoo in 2012, six years after the zoo closed in 2006.
The barn is now known as The Long Neck Inn. While many of the original features were retained in the re-design, we doubt April would recognize her birthplace.
The rooms are jaw dropping. Guests can enjoy the common living room, which features signs from the old zoo. Spend the night in one of the bedrooms, some of which allow pets and may include a jacuzzi or soaking tub. Room prices range from $167 to $275 per night.
