There's a lot to see and do in the Central New York area this weekend. We found the Top 10 events we think you should make time for.

From hanging out at the Utica Zoo for a family-friendly day out, to discovering everything "garlic" at a special festival, there's a LOT going on in the area this weekend (and there's no doubt about that). If you're looking for something different, maybe check out one of these events and activities.

    New York Power Authority's Wildlife Festival at the Utica Zoo

    Sat. September 9: 10a - 4p

    PRICE: Free
    Why not bring the whole family to the Utica Zoo this weekend? The New York Power Authority is putting on their annual "Wildlife Festival" with face painting, magic, chainsaw carving, local vendors, and delicious food. Check out the video (below) to find out more about this great event.

    I-90 Cruisin' Car Show at SUNY Poly in Utica

    Sat. September 9: 11a - 3p

    PRICE: Free to attend, $15 to register a car in the show
    This is a fantastic event put on by the students of SUNY Polytechnic Institute. There will be raffles, a silent auction, of course all the sweet cars, and more for the whole family. And money raised from this event helps benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation of CNY.

    Mohawk Valley Garlic and Herb Festival in Little Falls

    Sat. September 9: 10a - 5p

    PRICE: $5 suggested donation per person, $15 per family
    Come to Canal Place in Little Falls for all your garlic needs (and wants). There will be garlic and herb growers, artisans, and of course delicious garlic and herb foods. Plus, free horse and carriage rides along the Erie Canal, and demonstrations throughout the day.

    Matchbox 20 and Counting Crows in Syracuse

    Sat. September 9: 6:45pm

    PRICE: $48 - $746
    Tickets are still available to see Matchbox 20 and the Counting Crows at the Lakeview Amphitheater in Syracuse. Get ready to dance, sing along, and just jam out to "Unwell," "How Far We've Come," "She's So Mean," and many other Matchbox 20 songs. Of course, you'll be jamming out to Counting Crow hits too, like "Big Yellow Taxi" and "Accidentally in Love."

    Fairchild Folk Festival 2017 in Remsen

    Sun. September 10: 1p - 9p

    PRICE: Free, but donations are greatly appreciated
    This event is perfect for some wholesome, family fun. Enjoy delicious food, music, and don't forget to bring your friends, too. Some of the musical guests include "The Old Main," "Rabbit in the Rye," "Jukebox Gypsies," and many others.

    Kids Pumpkin Polka Dot Paint Party in New Hartford

    Sun. September 10: 10a - 1p

    PRICE: $21 per child
    This is a fun activity for your child (or children) to get into the fall spirit. BB Designs will teach your child to paint a beautiful pumpkin and polka dot picture that each student will be able to customize themselves. This project is perfect for kids 6 years and older.     GSP Outdoor Movie Series in Rome

    Sat. September 9: 8p - 11p

    PRICE: Free
    Enjoy a free movie at March Street and Ellsworth Road in Rome. This is a makeup date for a rained out movie (earlier this summer), but they will be showing "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusader." The movie starts at 8pm and their will be a food truck on site for treats. Beer will also be available.

    Second Saturday Science at the Utica Children's Museum

    Sat. September 9: 10a - 12p

    PRICE: Included with admission into the museum (adults $8, seniors/veterans $7, children 2-17 $6, children under 2 free)
    Professor Shahida Dar of Mohawk Valley Community College and her students will be bringing hands-on science activities to the Children's Museum in Utica.

    My So-Called Band at Woodland Farm Brewery in Marcy

    Sun. September 10: 1p - 4p

    PRICE: Free
    If you loved the 90s and miss them, this is the show you'll want to see this weekend. "My So-Called Band" will be playing all your favorites from the 90s, plus it's at the brewery, so you can enjoy a nice tall glass of craft beer or even a mixed drink if that's more of your style.

    Animal Adoption Clinic at Tallman's Tires in Herkimer

    Sat. September 9: 10a - 1p

    PRICE: Free
    The Herkimer County Humane Society is going to be a Tallman's Tires in Herkimer this Saturday with a bunch of their animals that are looking for new homes. You can make a donation or meet some of the animals that are up for adoption. Who knows?! You might find a new friend for your family.
