Have you ever found yourself scrambling to find money when you arrive at your intended Thruway exit? It's especially difficult at night, and that's why I'm proposing that they make a change.

I can't count the number of times I've been traveling the New York State Thruway at night only to realize that I don't have my money ready when I arrive at the toll booth. I think turning on my dome light while searching for lost change and digging into my pocket is slightly dangerous, so I usually wait until the attendant tells me the amount first.

After a long day of traveling, many of us are exhausted and just want to get home. Creating a ticket that glows in the dark would make traveling at night a little safer and also serve to make our lives a bit easier. I mean, there's always the option of purchasing E-Z Pass, but for those of us who don't travel all that frequently, it probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Certainly it would be terrific if Thruway tolls were eliminated altogether, but chances are, that's not going to happen anytime soon. In the meantime, wouldn't it be nice if the New York State Department of Transportation gave my idea a little thought?

What New York State Thruway pet peeves do you have?

Just Jen and I talked about these tickets that glow this morning.
