It appears that the monthly jobs report from the Labor Department that's due out today (November 2nd) will NOT be delayed because of Hurricane Sandy. The closely watched report on the unemployment rate and number of jobs created in the previous month will be the last piece of economic news to come before the Presidential election on Tuesday the 6th and will be out today.
Because Sandy had closed government offices and public transportation around Washington, Bureau of Labor Statistics workers were thought to not be able to get their analysis of the numbers done in time for today's planned release.  It appears that they got the job done. The unemployment rate has recently fallen to 7.8 percent and I expect it to stay about where it is or slightly lower. Yes it's slow growth but I think it's fair to say that jobs growth will continue and unemployment rates will continue to fall. If you're looking for a job, check out this report.
