There's so much to see and do at the New York State Fair, but we were able to narrow down the list of thousands to the Top 5 things you should definitely make time for.
The Great New York State Fair is coming up pretty quickly. The event runs from Wednesday, August 23rd (their new "preview day") through Monday, September 4th (Labor Day). And each day of the fair is packed with great things to see, amazing things to do, and so much to take in. We found the Top 5 things we think you need to experience at this year's New York State Fair.
Listen to a Free Show
This is a no-brainer. With all the fantastic artists that will be performing for free at the Chevy Court this year, there's bound to be one the whole family can enjoy. UB40, Spin Doctors, Taylor Dayne, The Beach Boys, DNCE, 3 Doors Down, Kansas, and many, many others will be performing... for free! Make sure you look at the NYS Fair's schedule of events to know which day the artist you want to see is taking the stage.
See the Bear Hollow Wood Carvers
New to the fair this year
Bear Hollow Wood Carvers will be doing daily shows at the state fair. Watch them create beautiful artwork from chunks of wood. And they'll definitely be putting on a show while you watch them make their sculptures.
This show will have you holding your breath and your heart racing. Watch crazy, death-defying stunts and amazing acrobatics all in one. According to The Great New York State Fair,
This incredible 25 minute show contains: Aerial Bungee, Tramp-Wall, Sphere, Power Track and more.
Sounds like an unbelievable 25 minutes. This will definitely be a great show to check out and take a break from walking around the fairgrounds.
Indulge in Some Delicious Fair Food
This one is also a no-brainer, and something you have to do at every fair and carnival. It's the perfect excuse to try something absolutely crazy like a burger that has donuts for its buns, or a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich loaded with barbecue chicken and bacon. Why not? It's the fair. And you can't forget about all those treats. You know, the deep-fried candy bars, funnel cake, and even a deep-fried pop-tart. You have to get something, it's just... tradition.
