As American Idol prepares to crown it's next winner this week, the reality show is preparing for a final farewell. Season 15 will be the final season for American Idol next January.

Fox announced, 2016 will be the last year for Idol hopefuls with Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. returning as judges and Ryan Seacrest hosting:

"AMERICAN IDOL will begin its 15th – and final – season this January on FOX. A season-long celebratory event, AMERICAN IDOL XV will feature host Ryan Seacrest and judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr., as they search for the final IDOL superstar and pay tribute to the past 14 seasons of amazingly talented contestants and the millions of fans who tweeted, texted and championed their IDOLs."

Although I'll miss seeing Keith Urban every week and what t-shirt he's going to be wearing, I have to say it's long overdue. I was going to throw in the towel the year they announced Keith as a judge. This year, I gave up half way through the season. The talent just isn't up to par as where it was in season's past. The blind auditions on 'The Voice' are better than anyone in the top 3 on Idol this year.

For this season, Nick Fradiani, Clark Beckham, and Jax will find out who made it into the Final 2 Tuesday, May 12 at 8 p.m. on Fox and the winner will be announced Wednesday, May 13 at 8 p.m.
