‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5′ is Being Bumped to Summer 2016
When Edgar Wright's 'Ant-Man' shuffled from November to July 2015 yesterday, there was a murmur it might either be to replace something or could cause a release date shuffle. The former appears to be the case as 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' is now moving to summer 2016.
‘The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes’ is Delayed, May Go Away Entirely
'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' came out less than three weeks ago, but box office-wise (at least domestically) it's done. Having made less than $30 million stateside, that number is less than half of the film's production budget. So it's no surprise that production company Constantin Films is delaying the start of the sequel 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes.'
‘Jurassic Park 4′ Now Titled ‘Jurassic World’ and is Set to Stomp in Summer 2015
'Jurassic Park 4' was initially set for what seemed like an unrealistic 2014 launch, as the film had a release date before it had a director. But now the Colin Trevorrow-helmed sequel has a new title and release date. 'Jurassic World' has just been scheduled for June 12, 2015.
‘RoboCop’ Trailer: “Dead or Alive, You’re Coming With Me”
A PG-13 'RoboCop' remake? That's what we're getting, and the first trailer plays up the familiar elements ("oh look, ED-209"), but also seems to put the focus on the role of free will in Alex Murphy (played by Joel Kinnaman), who becomes part man, part machine, and all cop.
‘Transformers 4′ Poster Reveals Official Title, ‘Age of Extinction’
Yesterday we confirmed that the Dinobots, those transformers that also turned into dinosaurs, would be in 'Transformers 4.' What we didn't know then is how big a role they'd play and with the film's new title, it seems they're going to be a big focal point. 'Transformers 4' is now officially titled 'Transformers: Age of Extinction.'
‘Thor 2′ Offers its First TV Spot
For the most part, comic book movies have stuck to summer release dates of late, so it will be interesting to see how 'Thor: The Dark World' fares this November. But of all the superheroes, Thor seems the most autumnal (perhaps it's the thunder). But we've now got the film's first TV spot, as the film opens in a little over two months.
‘Man of Steel 2′ Casts Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight
Holy change-up, Batman! Ben Affleck, two-time Oscar winner, director/star of 'Argo,' and former Daredevil, has just been announced as the new Batman in the Batman and Superman/ 'Man of Steel 2' movie.
‘A.C.O.D.’ Trailer: Adam Scott Needs Help With His Parents
Culturally, it feels like divorce became more of a standard practice when the baby boomers started having kids. That many people grew up with their parents divorced is the impetus for the film 'A.C.O.D.,' which focuses on Adam Scott's character, who -- as the initials note -- is an adult child of divorce. And what that means is that he has to parent his parents.
‘Vampire Academy’ Trailer: Who Says Young Adult Adaptations are Dead?
Though the trend might seem on the wane, 'Vampire Academy' is the latest in a series of Young Adult novel to be brought the big screen and it's just released its first trailer. Sure, 'The Host' and 'Beautiful Creatures' flopped. And sure, the prognosis for 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' isn't looking good. But when you have hit films like 'Harry Potter,' 'Twilight' and 'The Hunger Games,'
‘The Mummy’ Reboot Needs a New Director
It's been almost a year since Len Wiseman was announced as the director of the new version of 'The Mummy,' and there hasn't been much news about the project since. So it's no surprise that Wiseman is now off the project, and the producers are looking for another helmer.
‘Artemis Fowl’ the Latest Book Series to Get the ‘Harry Potter’ Treatment (But With Robert De Niro’s Help)
Though we've seen a number of young-adult novels translated to the big screen only to flop ('Beautiful Creatures,' 'The Host') and may yet still (we're curious to see what happens with 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones'), it's still considered a hot genre for adaptations. So it's no surprise Disney wants to bring the YA hit 'Artemis Fowl' to the big screen. What is surprising is that it's bei
‘The Butterfly Effect’ is the Latest Movie to be Rebooted
It's hard to get up in arms about remakes, considering how many of them there are, but the period between originals and new versions is getting shorter and shorter. Case in point: 'The Butterfly Effect.' This 2004 film is the latest to get a remake -- though it's being called a reboot, partly because the original inspired two direct-to-video sequels.
