Can you make a killer brisket? Well, here's your opportunity to show off your cooking and barbecuing skills during the New York State Fair.

The Great New York State Fair has announced a bunch of new contests for amateur cooks and chefs, and one of those happens to be the brisket contest, being put on by our state's own "Dinosaur Bar-B-Que." If you think your brisket recipe is the best in the state, you could be walking away with the grand prize of $200. There's also a second place prize of $100 in gift cards to Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, and a third place prize of a $50 gift card to Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, as well as a barbecue caddy and apron for the winners.

The contest will take place on Wednesday, August 23rd, on the state fair's new preview day. It's open to anyone who is a resident of New York and not a professional chef. You must register ahead of time, and the deadline is July 3rd.
You can register online, or by printing out the form and mailing it to the "Entry Department" of the New York State Fair. But you can get all those details at: nysfair.ny.gov/competitions/how-to-enter/ just scroll down to the "Culinary" section.

There are many other food contests at the state fair as well, including the "Hunter & Hilsberg Jam and Jelly Contest," a barbecue bean contest, a creative apple pie competition, and tons of others.

The Great New York State Fair runs from Wednesday, August 23rd through Monday, September 4th (Labor Day).
